Kiev apartments
Tips specific to Kiev apartment rent
Renting a Kiev apartment may be a challenge. Since there are a lot of people
visiting Kiev, both international and local travellers, although Kiev apartments
are overpriced they are still 40%-50% lower than Kiev hotels (as there is lack
of hotels in Kiev). Here are a few tips for Kiev apartment rent:
- There is big demand for Kiev apartments around the year, so there are
no seasonal discounts, besides monthly rates are almost equal to daily rates
(i.e. monthly rate is a daily rate with discount)
- Most popular area to stay in Kiev is near Kreschatik St., Independence
Square (one end of Kreschatik, and Lva Tolstogo Square (another end of Kreschatik
St.) However, the choice of apartments here is limited and they are overpriced,
so best value considering price and location is the area 1000 to 1500 meters
off Kreschatik St., where areas of interest can be reached by walking, but
the prices are not so high. Another idea is renting apartment at longer distance
but close to Subway station, however, keep in mind that during peak times
7:30 to 10:00 and 16:30 to 20:00 the trip on subway would be rather unpleasant
as the trains are overcrowded.
- Many Kiev apartments do not have air-conditioning (even luxury apartments).
The main reason is that Kiev summer is rather moderate and most time of the
year air-conditioning is not required. However, if you absolutely need air-conditioner
during summer months, be sure to ask if it is available in the apartment.
- Kiev has a good heating, water heating, and water supply round the year,
therefore independent heating or water heating is not necessary. Central heating
works from October 15 to April 15. Sometimes it can be still cold before October
15 or after April 15, so if you travel before or after these dates, check
if electric heaters are available in the apartment.
